Artist description:

A painter and stained glass artist, Reg Lloyd was born in Hereford in 1926 and lives in Devon. Largely self-taught, he began painting around 1950 and received early encouragement from the sculptor, Henry Moore. He illustrated four of Ted Hughes’ books of poems, including ‘The Cat and the Cuckoo’ and ‘What is the Truth?’ He showed at the Royal Institute of which he was elected a member in 1982. Other shows include a group exhibition at the Tate Gallery and a major retrospective at the Hereford Museum and Art Gallery in 1996. Reg Lloyd’s work is represented in many collections including at the V&A, National Maritime Museum and the Tate Gallery.
