Patrick William Hall,(1906-1992)

Little-known painter, born in York, Hall was educated at Sedburgh School and attended York School of Art. He helped with the conservation of the stained glass windows in York Minster and his interest in architecture and cathedrals stayed with him all his life. He travelled all over Europe sketching landscapes, particularly those that featured rivers or canals, and buildings. He exhibited with galleries such as Waddington, Austin Hayes, Marjorie Parr and latterly Montpelier Studio, London. He lived at South Terrace, South Kensington, where he set up a studio and was also Honorary, then acting, Secretary of the Chelsea Arts Club. He also exhibited at the Royal Academy and with the New English Art Club.
