Description

Artist description:

A painter, stained glass artist and wood cutter, the Swiss artist Hanns Studer was born in Basel but lives and works on the island of Rügen off the north coast of Germany. He is best known for his coloured woodcuts and especially stained glass windows, his main subjects are local scenes and customs, such as the circus, the Basel carnival, and the Dance of Death. This print is almost a crossover between a wood cut and a stained glass design.
