Artist description:
A painter in oil and gouache of industrial scenes, docks and stations, Joyce Pallot was born at Brightlingsea in Essex, and studied firstly at Southend then at Colchester School of Art in the 1930s. She exhibited at the Alpine Gallery in London, and widely in the provinces. She held a solo exhibition in 1968 at the Trafford Gallery, London and held 4 exhibitions with her husband, Henry Collins at the Minories in Colchester.
Joyce Pallot was perhaps best known in Essex for the concrete mural reliefs which she created jointly with her husband and which adorn a number of Colchester’s pedestrian subways. They also worked together on exhibition designs which included the Brussels Expo ’70 held in Japan and for clients including British Home Stores and Ind Coope Breweries. A joint retrospective exhibition was held at the Minories, Colchester in 1995. She was a member of the Society of Industrial Artists.
