Artist description:

A graphic artist, lithographer, wood cutter and watercolour artist, Heinz Keller specialised in both black and white and multi-coloured woodcuts in a style reminiscent of the expressionists of the early 20th century.

He was born and raised in the Winterthur-Wülflingen canton in Switzerland where his father was a farmer. He trained as a graphic artist and lithographer at the Zurich School of Applied Arts from 1949 and worked as a commercial artist until 1962 when he became a full-time woodcutter and artist. He had his first solo exhibition in the gallery abc Winterthur in 1958 followed by many exhibitions and awards in Germany and abroad. Together with his wife he founded the artists’ publishing house Sonnenberg Presse. In 1960 he joined Xylon, the Swiss association of woodcutters and woodcutters, the 40th edition of Xylon magazine was dedicated to his work
