Artist Description

Edwin La Dell was born in Rotherham and in 1935, he won a scholarship to study at the Royal College of Art where his tutors included John Nash, Robert Austin, Gilbert Spencer and Barnett Freedman. He was Head of Printmaking at the Royal College of Art between 1955 and 1970 and played a key role in raising the appeal and status of printmaking. He was involved in commissioning such popular and influential series of prints as the Lyons Lithographs and the School Prints. His work is held in many collections such as the Royal Academy and the Government Art Collection.
